Courts Information Kiosks
The Courts Information Kiosks are Touch screen kiosk and kiosk software for proving information and assistance to offenders and victims of crime in courts. Courts Information Kiosks are used by the Ministry of Justice in the UK.
The courts information kiosks are designed to be used in courts to provide access to web-based information and free phone calls to assist offenders and victims of crime. The Courts Information Kiosks can be installed in county court, high court, crown court and magistrates courts.
For Offenders, the Courts Information Kiosks can be used to provide a wide range of help and guidance relating to:
- Health - Dealing with Drugs and Alcolhol Problems
- Work - Providing help with Education, Training and Jobs
- Finance - Help with Debt and benefits
- Wellbeing - Health and Social Support
- Housing - Help with social and emergency housing
- Women - Help aimed specifically for Women
- Victims - specialist help for victims of crime
Information Delivery Methods
The Courts Information Kiosk can deliver information to your users in a number of ways including: Access to websites providing support and advice, Free phone calls to organisations which can help, Email the link home - an email is sent to the users' email address so that they can view the information in private. Webpages can also be printed using a wireless printer located behind reception.
Courts Information Kiosk: The Attract Loop
The attract loop runs when the kiosk is not in-use and is there to encourage people to interact with the kiosk. It has a bright, colourful design and features a local messaging system which enables you to add messages which will appear on the attract loop. As an example, the messaging system may show 'Please do not leave bags unattended', or 'Please come along to our open day on Wednesday 24th October and find out how the court system works.' The Courts Information Kiosk attract loop can have a variety of images, logo's and text also.
The Menu Page
After the attract loop comes the 'menu page'. This page, branded to suit, contains a matrix of available options where the user can select further information or make a call. An example menu page is shown on the picture on the right hand column of this page. The text used on the menu is set using your content management system and can be changed at any time by you.
What about other languages?
Using the attract loop, your user can select between alternative languages such as English/Welsh.
How do I find out if/how it is being used?
The Courts Information Kiosks run from a centrally hosted web interface where you can manage the content and links on your kiosks. The Content Management System (CMS) also records usage stats for each of the kiosks so you can see how much they are being used and what kind of information is most popular
What about security?
Our kiosk software is designed to prevent un-authorised or malicious access to the system. Additionally, we use 'whitelisting' which means that your users can only view websites which you have specifically added to the system.
How is it connected?
As a supplier of broadband, Internet connectivity can be arranged as part of the package. Alternatively, the Courts Information Kiosks can be configured to run through your existing network infrastructure.
The Courts Information Kiosks needs just one mains point for the kiosk. If we supply the broadband internet connection then an additional mains point is required for our router.
