Police Service Kiosks
Police Forces up and down the country have always known that engagement with the public is vital to preventing crime. Initiatives such as Citizen Focussed Policing are geared towards solid public engagement to improve outcomes. Technology has a part to play here, and systems such as Police Information Point can really help to increase exposure and feedback.
Getting the public to engage positively with the Police has always been an effective way to reduce crime. Police Information Point from kiosks4business can add to your mix of ways to interact with the public, because it presents a friendly, non-intimidating face to the public, that will invite feedabck and provide information.
Sometimes, cross agency initiatives such as with the NHS, tick a number of boxes that both need. A good example of this is the work we've been doing in Cambridge to install systems in the A&E departments of hospitals. The systems have a very clear Police identity, with other identifiers point back to the NHS as well as the City of Cambridege.
In this example, members of the public who sustained injury from attack or some other event, and now find themselves in A&E, have a Police Information Point close at hand in the department. It is placed there deliberately in order for the victim themselves, their family or friends, to explore the system for information relating to the sitauation at hand.
Whilst browsing for information, users have plenty of opportunity using the touchscreen navigation system, to make a call to a police help line, and report the incident at that point. They do this close to the time when the incident occurred, and so keep any information pertaining to the incident fresh and accurate.
In this example, we shorten the journey dramatically between event and reporting it, and we also make it easy for people to explore and report it.
